The Dream Team Does Montucky: Naw Meen.
This post is long overdue. A serious lack of motivation to blog hit me as soon as I returned from Italy. Regardless, I am ready to get back to business. I figured this would be a good jumping off point: The Dream Team trip to Montana. In case you are not familiar with this all-star crew of sorts, let me enlighten you. Bottom left is Matt Schreir. Schreez as he is known around town, is a jack of all trades. Part shredder, teacher, firefighter, handyman, whisky drinker, husband and all around hell of a guy, Matt kills it at every turn.
Next is rachel Burks, a Hell Bat in every sense of the word. She will out ski, drink, party, laugh, cook, eat, dance, and out love anyone else on the planet; and do it all with a killer French accent.
Rich Peterson is a smooth operator. Quiet at first, but then he unleashes on you with an array of shred and linguistic maneuvers that will have you scratching your head. Rich is a secret legend of sorts, lurking in the shadows of the Wasatch Mountains, he is one of the best snowboarders and funniest people you will ever meet. He will also eat more food, faster than anyone I have seen. That is how much fire he has in his belly.
Lastly, I am the young gun of the crew. I am here to keep everyone on their toes. When it comes to sketchy snowboard moves or late night accidents involving frozen turkeys and beer, I am the man that steps up to the plate without hesitation. I also have been dubbed the dance party maestro, so beware of the ankle breakin' dance moves that may ensue without a moment's notice.
Now that the introductions are over, the purpose of our trip was to shred with the Montana kids that are a part of the Big Sky Youth Empowerment Program. BYEP is an outdoor based program that helps at risk teens get out in the mountains and focus their energy into a positive endeavor like skiing and snowboarding.. In association with The Billy Poole Memorial fund, The Dream Team and a cadre of the best Pro Skiers in the west showed the kids how to get down on the hill (in fact the kids showed us some moves as well). The people involved with the program are the salt of the earth, and deserve as much recognition as possible. I was also an amazing way to celebrate the life of Billy Poole, who dedicated his existence to living and loving in the mountains with his friends and family.
Needless to say, Bozeman and Big Sky Had no idea what hit them after we rolled into town. Three full days of shredding and getting wicked with the best people on the planet, put this trip in the record books. Go Team! Naw Meen?

Cheers
